Check engine light on?  Come on in for an engine diagnostic of your vehicle!  When your check engine light comes on, it might be for something small like a loose gas cap or it might be for a near-catastrophic engine failure, and we can find out most causes of the check engine light by running a vehicle diagnostic code scan.  We’ll hook up an electronic scanner to your vehicle and it will relay the error code(s) to us for your vehicle.  If it’s simply a loose gas cap, we can tighten it, clear the code, and you’ll be out the door.  And you don’t have to wait for a check engine light to request an engine diagnostic test – if something feels off, knocks or rattles, or maybe your engine stalls or has difficult starting, it’s a good idea to bring your vehicle in for inspection.

For auto repairs that go beyond the gas cap, the vehicle diagnostic trouble code will tell us where to start looking in your vehicle for the problem.  Often, there will be several factors contributing to the need for an engine diagnostic, and we will go over these with you when we make a recommendation for further troubleshooting and/or repairs to your car, truck, or SUV.  With the complexity of the systems in modern vehicles, you’ll want the best auto repair mechanic on the job and we are here for you!

What’s Involved in an Engine Diagnostic Service?

Reading the vehicle diagnostic trouble code is only the first step.  With the code(s) giving us some direction, we begin with visual inspection of the systems involved in the error code to check for anything obviously loose, cracked, or overly worn.  We then test the systems and components, like the fuel pressure and spark compression, to more accurately pin-point the problem.  We want to get to the real problem behind your check engine light to get you back on the road safely.  Once we are confident we have identified the problem, we will talk to you about the recommended repairs.

With your engine diagnostic service, we include a multi-point vehicle inspection at no additional charge.  This inspection checks other components in your vehicle like your battery, parking brake, fluids, and lights.  We like to take the opportunity to check commonly repaired items on your vehicle while we have it.  Your safety is our top priority!
